Shakarim University's Initiative for Agricultural Digitalization

On September 17, a delegation from Shakarim University, led by Board Member and Vice-Rector for Internationalization and Innovation Yerasyl Dulatbay Altaiuly, visited the Beskaragai district and met with the district akim.

The main topic of the meeting was the “Concept for the Development of the Agro-Industrial Complex of the Beskaragai District of Abai Region for 2026–2032.” University representatives presented projects aimed at the digitalization of the region’s agriculture.

The goal of the project is to involve the business community and agricultural producers in the digital transformation of the agro-industrial sector. By combining science and practice, this will help increase the efficiency of the industry.

The project envisions the creation of a real-time monitoring system for agricultural land. It will cover a wide range of data — from climatic conditions and soil composition to crop yield indicators and the state of livestock farming.

The implementation of this initiative will make the region more attractive to investors, as stakeholders will gain access to up-to-date and expert-verified information about individual farms. Based on this data, university scientists will be able to implement advanced methods and technologies, promptly address vulnerable areas, and enhance the overall potential of the agro-industrial sector.

Beskaragai district will serve as the pilot site for agricultural digitalization in the Abai Region. In the future, the university plans to expand the project by creating a national monitoring and recommendation database on a countrywide scale.
